Yanui: Yanui is not only the name of the beach, but also a small neighbourhood within Rawai. The beach itself is about 150 metres long, tucked between Windmill Viewpoint and Promthep Cape. According to a popular local explanation, the word “nui” means “small” in the southern dialect, which suits this intimate little cove.
Rawai's Sea Story: Before Rawai appeared on tourist maps, Urak Lawoi families lived along this shore. They fished, dived for shellfish and travelled by boat between the beach and nearby islands. Knowledge of water, wind and boats passed from one generation to the next. Even today, the sea in Rawai is more than a view; for many families it remains part of daily life. Local Market Life: For years, Yanui's local market has opened three times a week. You can buy fresh fruit, vegetables and fish, while vendors pack ready-made Thai dishes to take away. Pick up dinner, carry it down to the beach and eat while the sun sets.

Hidden Beach
Ao Sane is a tucked-away cove near Nai Harn, known for a quieter atmosphere than Phuket's big tourist beaches. The rocky shoreline and clear water make it a popular choice for snorkeling days. It is a great half-day escape when you want nature, shade and a slower pace.
Iconic Landmark
The 45-metre white marble statue on Nakkerd Hill is one of Phuket's most recognized landmarks. Views are wide and panoramic, but check current access notes before you go.
Temple Culture
Wat Chalong (Wat Chaiyathararam) is the largest and most visited Buddhist temple in Phuket. Visitors come for prayer halls, detailed architecture and the central pagoda. It is one of the best places to experience local spiritual life respectfully.

Sunset Point
Promthep Cape is about 2.2 km from Yanui and is Phuket's most iconic sunset viewpoint. The cape gives wide sea panoramas and dramatic golden-hour light. Arrive a bit earlier in high season to get a comfortable viewing spot.
Viewpoint
Windmill Viewpoint is roughly 1.1 km from Yanui, between Yanui and Nai Harn. It is a quick scenic stop with broad coastal views and strong photo potential. The road access is easy, so it fits well into a short evening loop.

Wind Energy

An Older Name

Island on the Horizon
From Promthep Cape you can see Koh Kaeo Phitsadan, a small island with a temple. Two marks in a seaside rock are revered as the fifth footprint of the Buddha, while the surrounding waters are protected as a refuge for marine life. Traditional Fishing
Rawai fishers used simple hook-and-line sets baited with squid or mackerel. They avoided fishing over coral because the line could become tangled, break and damage the reef. This practical rule shows that knowing the sea meant more than finding a good catch; it also meant knowing where to leave the seabed undisturbed. Lighthouse in Numbers
